Garage Door Questions We Get From Alpharetta Homeowners

Answers on service area, what we won't touch, and the most common garage door calls we get in Alpharetta and nearby Fulton County neighborhoods.

Do you come out to Peachtree Corners or Berkeley Lake?

Yes - both are about 8 miles from our Alpharetta location, close enough that we treat those calls the same as ones inside the city. Call (770) 230-5638 and we'll give you a realistic window based on the day's schedule.

Will you work on a garage door at a house built before 1951?

Most of the housing in this service area was built between 1951 and 2007, so pre-1951 construction is rare here. If your home falls outside that range, call first - we may need to check what hardware is actually installed before we commit to a repair.

How far out do you go?

Our farthest regular stop is Pine Lake, about 20 miles from Alpharetta. We also cover Stone Mountain, Scottdale, Fair Oaks, and Ball Ground around 19 miles, plus a run of closer-in spots. If you're near the edge of that range, ask when you call.

My door is fine most of the year but sticks in winter - is that normal?

It's common in this climate band. Cold temperatures stiffen lubricant and contract metal parts, so a door that runs smooth in warmer months can bind or feel heavy in winter. Usually it's a lubrication and track-alignment check rather than a part failure.

Should I repair my opener or replace it?

Depends on the age and what's failed. If the motor itself is going, repair often doesn't make sense long-term. We'll look at it in person and tell you honestly which way makes more sense rather than defaulting to the bigger job.

Where are you located?

1150 Sanctuary Pky, Alpharetta, GA 30009. Call (770) 230-5638 to schedule or ask whether your address falls inside our service area.

The Areas We Cover

We run out of Alpharetta and work the neighborhoods close in rather than spreading thin across metro Atlanta. Peachtree Corners, Berkeley Lake, and Mountain Park are all about 8 miles out, so those calls get the same turnaround as a job inside the city. Doraville sits around 11 miles, Cumming about 12, and Chamblee roughly 13.

Farther out, we still take calls in Sugar Hill and Holly Springs (both around 14 miles) and Brookhaven (about 15). Past that we cover North Druid Hills, Clarkston, North Decatur, and Vinings at roughly 18 miles, and Fair Oaks, Scottdale, Ball Ground, and Stone Mountain around 19. Pine Lake, at about 20 miles, is the edge of where we go.

If you're not sure whether your street counts, call the number below and ask before you book. Distance matters for scheduling same-day work - a spring job 8 miles away gets squeezed into a tighter window than one 20 miles out, so we're upfront about that when you call.

What We Do Not Take On

  1. We work on residential garage doors - springs, openers, tracks, panels, cables, rollers

We don't do custom fabrication, and we don't take on jobs where the opening itself needs structural framing work; that's a carpenter or GC's job, not ours, and we'll tell you that on the phone rather than showing up and guessing. Most of the housing stock across this service area went up between 1951 and 2007, with the bulk from the 1980s and 90s, so we see a predictable range of hardware - nothing exotic.

  2. If you've got something genuinely unusual

Like a door imported or custom-built outside that normal range, we may not carry the parts and will say so instead of ordering something that takes weeks to arrive. We also don't try to talk anyone into a repair that doesn't make sense. If a door is old enough and worn enough that fixing one part just means the next part fails in a month, we'll say replacement is the better call, even though that's a bigger job for us.

What We Are Called Out For

The most common call is a broken torsion spring - expected wear on doors that have been cycling for decades, which tracks with a lot of the stock here dating to the 1980s and 90s. Right behind that: openers that stop responding, a cable that's jumped the drum, or a track that's bent enough that the door binds halfway up.

Winter cold snaps bring a smaller but real spike in calls for stiff or sticking doors, which fits the cold-moderate climate this area sits in - metal contracts, lubricant thickens, and a door that worked fine in October suddenly needs force to move. We also get a steady run of panel damage calls, usually from a backed-into door rather than weather.

With median household income in the service area over $91,000 and most houses owner-occupied, we see more owners opting for full opener upgrades instead of patching an old one - but plenty of people just want the thing fixed and running again, and that's a fair call too. We work with both.
